Tourists and hotel operators can breath a sigh of relief. It began to snow across the Alps. Not a lot, around 10cms, (4 inches), but resorts like Alpe d’Huez, France and Saas Fee in Switzerland can begin opening up the ski lifts.
More snow is expected this weekend, so if you’re flying out to the major resorts you can expect to ski, but don’t dig in too deep. In Austria there may only be light snow showers with only ski lifts in the higher reaches being open.
In Scandinavia, still there is insufficient snow to make operators happy.
